Dollie Mae Herron
1936-2011
Tarkio, Missouri

Dollie Mae Herron, the daughter of Ross and Cecile Mae (Fischer) Herron, was born on January 27, 1936, at her home in Watson, Missouri. Dollie lived with her parents until the mid – 1970’s, when she moved to the Albany Group Home and was employed at the Sheltered Workshop in Stanberry, Missouri. In 1995, Dollie moved to Tarkio, Missouri, and made her home at the Park Place Group Home until the present time. Dollie passed away on October 24, 2011, at her home in Tarkio at the age of 75.

Dollie was one of God’s special children who would greet you with an outreached hand and a big “Hi ya.” She loved to swing outdoors and usually could be heard singing, sometimes loudly, but always in perfect pitch. She would also rock in her chair and sing along with The Lawrence Welk Show, one of her favorites. Dollie liked to tease her brothers by playing a game of “hot hands”. They would tease back trying to take her necklaces off. Dollie loved to wear necklaces and bracelets and nobody got them off unless Dollie wanted them off. Dollie was a farm girl at heart. She once had a bottle lamb that followed her everywhere. She liked to look at the cows, squeeze on baby kitties, and play with her dog “Tinkie.”

Besides her parents, Dollie was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Willard and Louise Herron. Survivors include brothers, Marvin Herron, and wife, Karen, and Gene Herron, and wife, Kathy, all of Rock Port; nieces, Valerie Duncan, and husband, Bruce, Thea Knox, and husband, David, Melissa Smith, and husband, Aaron; nephew, Kevin Herron; great nieces and nephews, Talya Culbertson, and husband, Sean, Eric Duncan, Karen Knox and David Knox.
