Dolores Ann Stanton, the daughter of Oscar O. and Irene (Zuck) Hosfiel, was born December 24, 1927, in Rock Port, Missouri. She attended Watson High School, Watson, Missouri, graduating in 1945. She then attended Methodist School of Nursing, St. Joseph, Missouri, receiving her Diploma in Nursing in 1949.

 

On December 30, 1951, Dolores was united in marriage to Donald Paul Stanton at the Hamburg Presbyterian Church, Hamburg, Iowa. They became the parents of four children, Cheri, Dan, Judith, and Robert K. They made their home in Rock Port. Donald passed away in 1986.

 

After high school, Dolores was employed at Barry Seed Company. She then was employed by Grape Community Hospital, Hamburg as a Registered Nurse. Later, she helped Pauline LaHue, the Atchison County Nurse, updating patient records before being employed by Watson School District as the school nurse.

 

Dolores was a member of the Rock Port Baptist Church. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, and maintaining a perfect yard. She met her LORD and Savior on Sunday, June 8, 2025, surrounded by her family, in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 97.

 

Besides her parents and husband, Donald Paul Stanton, Dolores was preceded in death by grandson, Cory Daniel Stanton; brothers, Oscar Hosfiel, Jr. and Keith Wesley Hosfiel. Survivors include children, Cheri (Paul) Zimmerman, Dan (Janette) Stanton, both of Rock Port; Judy (James) Walker, Cheney, Washington, and Robert Stanton, Long Beach, California; grandchildren, Amy (Dr. Ben) Petersen, Dr. Jay (Rachel) Stanton, Dr. Heather (Drew) Homchick, and Austin (Kendall) Walker; great grandchildren, Miles and Corbin Petersen, Cass, Collin, Cane, and Brea Stanton, Brady and Harrison Homchick; niece, Chris (Hosfiel) Jepsen.

 

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 13, 2025, Rock Port Baptist Church, Rock Port.

Open visitation begins 9:00 A.M., Thursday, June 12, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 A.M., Friday, prior to the service.

Interment: Elmwood Cemetery, Rock Port.

Memorials: Rock Port Baptist Church or Rock Port Senior Center.

Arrangements: Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
