Donald Henson, the son of Jason and Edith (Gigous) Henson, was born January 27, 1923 in Tarkio, Missouri. He attended schools in Holt County, Missouri, graduating from high school in Oregon, Missouri.

 

On January 23, 1943, Don enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country overseas during World War II, serving as a surgical technician. He received his honorable discharge on February 2, 1946.

 

On July 9, 1949, Don was united in marriage to Geraldine T. Bowers. They made their home in Renton, Washington. He drove a truck for Puget Sound Power and Light until his retirement in 1987. He also served as a Deputy Sherriff and was employed at a plywood factory. Don passed away July 31, 2009 at his home in Athol, Idaho at the age of 86 years.

 

Don was a member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars in Seattle, Washington.

 

Besides his parents, Don is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Henson; daughter, Debbie Henson; brothers, J.C. Henson and Lester (Bud) Henson; sister, Charlotte Henson.

 

Don is survived by his son, Donald Henson, Jr., Seaside, Oregon; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Maxine Plotkevich, Bridgeport, Connecticut; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside Memorial Service and Inurnment: 10:00 am, Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Home Cemetery, Tarkio, MO.
There is no visitation.
Memorials: Atchison County Memorial Building Foundation, Rock Port, MO.
Services under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
