Donald W. “Butch” Roop, 71, Rock Port, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014, at his home in Rock Port.

Donald W. “Butch” Roop, the son of Charles Henry and Leola Abigail (Wallace) Roop was born July 11, 1943, in Fairfax, Missouri. He attended Irish Grove and Nishnabotna country schools before attending Rock Port High School in Rock Port, Missouri, graduating in 1961.

Butch was employed in the hide plant at Missouri Beef Packers in Phelps City, Missouri, and in Hastings, Nebraska. Butch also worked as a maintenance engineer for a school in Hastings, retiring in 2005. After retiring, Butch moved back to Rock Port where he was employed at McDonalds for a short time. Butch passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014, at his home in Rock Port at the age of 71.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include two daughters, Niki Graham, Lincoln, Nebraska, and Trysha Roop, Hastings; one grandson, Vince Graham; sister, Virginia Cluck, Bendena, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service: 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 5, 2014, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
Interment: Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.
Open visitation will begin at noon, Tuesday, November 4, 2014, Minter Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 P.M., Wednesday, prior to the service.
