Donna Faye Hunter
1926 – 2007
Mother of Karen Thompson, Coin, Iowa

 

Donna Faye (Renshaw) Hunter, the daughter of Bernard Lee and Opal Ruth (Addington) Renshaw was born January 30, 1926 in Watson, Missouri. She attended Bethany, Irish Grove and Nishnabotna rural schools, graduating from Rock Port High School in 1943.

 

On December 24, 1942, she was united in marriage to Herbert Hunter in Tarkio, Missouri. They lived with her parents until Herb was honorably discharged from the service in 1946. They then began farming in the Rock Port, Hamburg, Iowa and High Creek Missouri areas. Donna was a wife, mother, homemaker and Licensed Practical Nurse. In 1992, Herb and Donna moved to the farm they owned north of Rock Port. Herb passed away November 26, 1995. Donna passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Methodist Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 81 years.

 

Donna was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Rock Port. For several years, she was employed by Dr. Wallace Carpenter in Rock Port and the Hamburg Hospital.

 

Donna had a passion in life for golf, bridge, music and dancing. For a number of years she sang for church and for residents of care centers. She and Herb also enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona. Donna’s greatest love was listening to her daughter Karen, play the organ at church.

 

Besides her parents and husband Herbert Hunter, Donna was preceded in death by; son-in-law George Schoonover, Jr., July 2, 1970; sister Gloria Burke and brother-in-law James Burke. Survivors include her daughter, Karen Thompson and husband Kenny, Coin, Iowa; four grandchildren, Scott Schoonover and his wife DeeAnn, Hamburg, Iowa, Mark Schoonover, Princeton, Missouri, Melanie Schneller and her husband Greg, St. Joseph, Missouri, Sheila Ziph and her husband Aaron, St, Joseph, ten great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Alysia, Brooke, Megan, Mackenzie, Danielle, Jacob, Joshua, Hunter, Samantha; half-sister Jimmie Lee Quick, Fountain Hills, Arizona, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Funeral Services: 10:00 am Saturday, September 29, 2007,
First Baptist Church, Rock Port
Burial: Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 28, 2007, 7:30 – 8:30 pm at the Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
