Dorothy Ann Struthers
July 20, 1929 - April 19, 2008
Dorothy Ann (Nielsen) Struthers, the daughter of John W. and Minnie M. (Guensche) Nielsen, was born July 20, 1929 in Hancock, Iowa. She attended Hancock Rural School and graduated in 1946 from Avoca High School, Avoca, Iowa. For a short time Dorothy was employed by the Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She also worked as a telephone operator at the Avoca Telephone Office, and taught in a one room country school for two years.
On August 10, 1950, Dorothy was united in marriage to Gise W. (Bill) Struthers at the Avoca Lutheran Church. They made their home in Atlantic, Iowa where they farmed for 7 years. In 1966, Bill and Dorothy moved to Rock Port, where in 1972 Dorothy became a dedicated employee of the Rock Port Market. Dorothy passed away Friday, April 19, 2008 at Northview Manor Nursing Home, Tarkio, Missouri at the age of 78 years.
Dorothy was an active member of the First Christian Church in Rock Port and a faithful member of her Wednesday morning Bible study group.
Besides her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Bill; son, Joe Struthers; grandson, Jonathan Struthers and brother, Ronnie Nielsen and nephew Ronnie Nielsen, Jr. Survivors include, daughter, Kathy Nauman and her husband Bill, Shawnee, Kansas, son, Mark Struthers, and his wife Lauren, St. Joe, Missouri, daughter, Calla Gutierrez, and her husband, Andres, Rock Port; grandchildren, Amy Bussell, Hilary Roberts, Lisbeth and Hannah Struthers, Daniel and Andrea Gutierrez and Kaley, Sara and Denzil Struthers; great grandchildren, Abigail and Justice Bussell, Walker Roberts and Gabriel Struthers; brother, Richard (Vickie) Nielsen, Avoca, Iowa.
Funeral Services: 10:00 am, Monday, April 21, 2008, First Christian Church, Rock Port
Interment: Linden Cemetery, Rock Port
The Family will receive friends Sunday 4:00 – 5:00 pm, at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port
