Dorothy M. Peregrine, the daughter of Virgil T. and Cecilia (Koelzer) Moore was born March 10, 1932 in Forest City, Missouri.  Dorothy graduated from Forest City High School in 1950.  She then attended a St. Joseph, Missouri business school, earning a secretarial certificate.

 

On August 13, 1951, Dorothy was united in marriage to Harold Lee Peregrine at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Forest City.  They made their home in St. Joseph, until 1952 when they moved to a farm in Elmo, Missouri. They later moved to Rea and Whitesville, Missouri and in 1959, returned to the Tarkio and Westboro, Missouri areas, where they farmed until 1980. In 1981, they moved into Tarkio. In 1987 they began spending the winter months in Texas where they made many good friends. Harold passed away in 2007.

 

Dorothy was a stay at home mom and a hard working farmer’s wife.  She climbed grain bins, walked beans and did many other jobs on the farm. She sold fresh eggs, cream, chickens, and always raised a large garden. She was also an Avon representative for many years. Dorothy was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Tarkio, and Good Sam’s Camping Club.  She enjoyed playing cards with friends and hosting large family gatherings at her home. Dorothy passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Tarkio Rehabilitation and Health Care, Tarkio, at the age of 88.

 

Besides her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by sisters, Rachel Cooper and Mildred Uehlin.  Survivors include three daughters, Evelyn (Michael) Gardner, Shenandoah, Iowa, Marjorie (Lary Trowbridge) Delfelder, Lawrence, Kansas and Catherine Driskell, Savannah, Missouri; four sons, Gerald (Linda) Peregrine, Westboro, Michael (Dzifa) Peregrine, St. Joseph, Dennis (Sherry) Peregrine, Westboro and Harold, Jr. (Yolanda) Peregrine, St. Joseph; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings,  Mary Ann Payne, Oregon, Missouri, Alice McGinnis, Skidmore, Missouri, Virginia, Blunt, Effingham, Kansas, Gregory (Charla) Moore, St. Joseph; sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann (Rodney) Miller, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Florence (Larry) Means, Aurora, Colorado, Barbara (Shane) Brailey, Viera, Florida; brother-in-law, Eugene (Mae) Peregrine, Sacramento, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private Family Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 2, 2021, St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Tarkio.

There is no scheduled family visitation.

Open visitation will begin 12 noon Monday, February 1, 2021, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.

Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
