I am sorry to hear of the passing of Miss Proper. She was my very first Librian (I am now 7" years old.) She was a wonderful lady,she will remain in the memories of many people. I was probably ten to twelve years old when she put the first extra books in my hands.mh

Living on a farm until age 10, I treasured the visits from Miss Proper and the bookmobile in the summers during the early 1950s. She helped encourage a lifelong love of learning. She made a difference for a lot of people.

Dorothy Proper has left a great legacy through her devotion to the public library in Rock Port. I couldn't wait for the bookmobile to stop by our farm during the summer months. I can still see Charles Eddy and Dorothy Proper inside that traveling library. What a great memory of an earlier time!
