Dorothy V. Stanford, the daughter of Frank and Sarah (Jincks) Tuggle, was born April 9, 1930, in Ridgeway, Missouri. She graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1949.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Vilas “Curly” Howell and they became the parents of two daughters, Carma and Peggy. They later divorced. On July 23, 1952, Dorothy was united in marriage to Donald Stanford and they became the parents of Larry, Jerry, Marsha, Terry, Krista, Gary, Donald Jr. and Eddie Joe. Including Donald’s four sons, Benny, Bob, Bill and Blake, the couple raised 14 children.

Dorothy was employed as a nurse by Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, retiring in 1984 after 25 years. Following retirement, they built a home in Warsaw, Missouri, where they lived until ill health forced their move to Atchison County to live closer to their family. Donald passed away September 15, 2012. Dorothy passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at her home in Tarkio, Missouri, at the age of 85.

Dorothy attended the Assembly of God Church in Tarkio. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed raising all kinds of animals, attending to her flower gardens, crocheting and making quilts.

Besides her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by three sons, Benny, Bob and infant son, Gary Stanford; and brother, George Tuggle. Survivors include children, Bill and Blake Stanford, Carma Eagans, Peggy Eagans, Larry and Jerry Stanford, Marsha Eagans, Terry Stanford, Krista Louderback, Donald Stanford, Jr. and Eddie Joe Stanford; 40 grandchildren, two of which she raised, Kevin and Bobby Joe Stanford; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 12, 2015, Assembly of God Church, Tarkio.
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio
Open visitation begins noon Friday, December 11, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio. There is no scheduled family visitation.
