DOTT LAWRENCE
1920-2015
ROCK PORT, MISSOURI

Dott (Flanagan) Lawrence, Rock Port, formerly of Maryville and Fairfax, Missouri, passed away in Rock Port on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. She was comforted by the presence of family and friends during her final months after a diagnosis of ovarian cancer.

Iona Dott (Flanagan) Lawrence was the seventh of twelve children born August 9, 1920, to McDonald and Nancy (Choate) Flanagan of rural Fairfax. She graduated from Daleview High School, rural Fairfax, in 1936. On July 10, 1938, Dott was united in marriage to Harold R. Lawrence. They became the parents of four children. Harold passed away in August of 1960.

After leaving her farm home in the early 1960’s, Dott spent many years working in the food service industry in area hospitals and at Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville. She spent two years as a house mother at Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity at Northwest Missouri State University. After retiring from the university, she served many elderly people in the Maryville area as a part-time home health provider. Dott was a longtime member of the Fairfax Baptist Church.

Home maker described Dott perfectly. She loved to cook, and the results were always delicious. Dott was a born caregiver, and her ability to charm young children and babies rarely failed her. She will be greatly missed by all who have enjoyed her warmth and hospitality.

Besides her parents and husband, Dott was preceded in death by grandson, Josh Rosenbohm; daughter-in-law, Margaret Lawrence; brothers, Floyd, Mack, Jim, John, Maurice and Richard (Dick) Flanagan; sisters, Marie Martindale, Juanita Cohen, infant Irene, Leone New and Betty L. Sly. Survivors include daughter, Janice Rosenbohm, Rock Port; sons, Deene (Sarah) Lawrence, Larry Lawrence, Kent (Helene) Lawrence, all of Fairfax; grandchildren, Jony (Mark) Huff, Pasadena, Texas, Greg (DeAnna) Lawrence, Joplin, Missouri, Julie (Randy) Beck, Hollister, Missouri, Jane (John) Walter, Tarkio, Missouri, Harold (Leigh Ann) Lawrence, Rock Port, Kelly (Scott) Parshall, Skidmore, Missouri, Chris (Melissa) Rosenbohm, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Heather (Jason) Troxel, New Market, Iowa, and Nathan (Prihner) Lawrence, Kansas City, Missouri; step-grandsons, Terry Kemerling and Rick (Dona) Kemerling, both Fairfax; eighteen great-grandchildren, Heath (Marcy) Huff, Casey (Brian) Gurka, Jamie Huff, M.D. (Lee), Melinda (John) Tierney, Jennifer (Brett) Sinn, Kassandra (David) Lipscomb, Maranda Beck, Danielle Beck (Darrell James), Stephanie (Jeff) Brokaw, Jessica Walter, J.D. Walter, Abbey Lawrence, Allie Lawrence, Alex Lawrence, Aaron Lawrence, Lindsey Lawrence, Lantz Lawrence and Ava Rosenbohm; three step-great-grandchildren, Jenea (Andy) Salmond, Kody (Sandy) Kemerling and Morgan (Caleb) Jeffers; eleven great-great-grandchildren, Cici, Alice, Lucy, Lauren, Will, Clair, Blake, Bennett, Nellie, Winnie and Phoebe; four step-great-great-grandchildren, Noah, Ryann, Vic and Dia; two sisters-in-law, Jean Flanagan and Jane Campbell; and one brother-in-law, H.A. Sly.

FUNERAL SERVICE:
1:00 P.M., Monday, January 19, 2015, Fairfax Baptist Church, Fairfax, Missouri.
INTERMENT: I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig, Missouri
Open visitation will begin 10:00 A.M., Sunday, January 18, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, where the family will also receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M. that afternoon.
