Duane K. Sabins
1962-2015

Duane Kenneth Sabins, the son of Kenneth Milton and Elizabeth Jean (Reid) Sabins, was born December 28, 1962, in Camden, Maine. He attended Medomak Valley High School, Waldoboro, Maine, graduating in 1981. In 1981, Duane entered the United States Navy and proudly served his country for eight years, working in the Navy nuclear program aboard the USS Bluefish, an attack submarine, as a “Nuke Tech”.

On April 6, 1982, Duane was united in marriage to Ronda Weaver. They became the parents of two children, Amanda and Adam. They later divorced. On June 10, 1995, Duane was united in marriage to Lori Ann Clough in Bath, Maine. Duane was employed at the Maine Yankee Nuclear Power Plant in Wiscasset, Maine. In August 1995, Duane adopted Lori’s daughter, Cassie.

In 1998, they moved to Tarkio, Missouri, where Duane was employed by Cooper Nuclear Station, in Brownville, Nebraska, as a radioactive waste supervisor.

In the late 1980’s, Duane realized that he needed to give his life to Jesus. This led to a committed and strong christian faith. He was an active member and deacon of the First Baptist Church, Tarkio and devoted family man. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #1000.

Duane was an avid cyclist and had just participated in the local Bike Across Missouri event. He was a high school state wrestling champion and cross country runner. He enjoyed camping, kayaking, fishing, collecting rocks and “turtle catching”. Duane passed away Monday, July 6, 2015, in Tarkio, Missouri, at the age of 52, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Duane was preceded in death by son, Adam Sabins and mother-in-law, Aneta Clough. Survivors include wife, Lori Ann Sabins, Tarkio; daughters, Amanda Marie Sabins, St. Petersburg, Florida, and Cassie Hegstrom and husband, Bob, Tarkio; grandson, Alex; granddaughters, Velicity and Saphira “Sophie”; parents, Kenneth and Elizabeth Sabins, Union, Maine; siblings, Glen Sabins and wife, Angie, Julie Pennell and husband, Greg, Union, Maine; Shawne Sabins, of Maine; father-in-law, Donald E. Clough, Sr., Lynn Haven, Florida; brother-in-law, Donald E. Clough, Jr., Houma, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 11, 2015, First Baptist Church, Tarkio.
Inurnment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
The family will receive friends from 6:00- 7:00 P.M., Friday, July 10, 2015, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
