Duane O. Anderson
June 27, 1926 - January 19, 2017
Duane O. (Andy) Anderson, the son of Gilbert and Anna (Holt) Anderson was born June 27, 1926 in Tarkio, Missouri. Andy graduated from Tarkio High School and was drafted by the United States Navy to serve during World War II in 1944. After receiving his honorable discharge in 1946, Andy returned to Tarkio and enrolled in Tarkio College, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. For many years Andy and his business partner Mick McNeal painted homes in the Atchison County area. On January 2, 1950, Andy became the proud parent of daughter, Judy Ann.
On May 13, 1995 Andy was united in marriage to Zerita May Guyette in Tarkio. They made their home in Tarkio and enjoyed 21 years together. Andy passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 90.
Andy was a member of the Tarkio Golf and Country Club, the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199 and faithfully attended the First Baptist Church, all of Tarkio.
Besides his parents, Andy was preceded in death by one brother, Dwight Anderson and one aunt, Myrtle Holt. Survivors include his wife Zerita Anderson, Tarkio; daughter, Judy (Alan) Bradfield, St. Joseph, Missouri, step-son, Gary (Sandra) Johnson, step-daughters, Debra (Byron) Johnson, Susan Raney, Tina (John) Goforth, all of Bakersfield, California; two grandchildren, Dawn (Derek) Davis and Eric Bradfield; two great grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; 10 step great grandchildren.
Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 23, 2017, First Baptist Church, Tarkio.
Interment: Linden Cemetery, Rock Port, Missouri
Open visitation begins 10:00 A.M., Sunday, January 22, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio. The family will receive friends Monday, January 23, at the First Baptist Church, Tarkio, from 9:00-10:00 A.M., prior to the service.
