Erna Charlyne (Wells) Anderson was born May 19, 1934 in Moorcroft, Wyoming to Perry and Sherma (Hefner) Wells. She attended school in Stanley, Iowa; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Rock Port, Missouri and graduated from high school in Marion, Iowa.

Charlyne was united in marriage to Harold T. Perry on June 10, 1951 in Marion. They had moved back to Rock Port by the time they started their family of four daughters. She had a variety of occupations through the years, but the true love of her life was her children and being involved in their activities. She spent many hours volunteering her time to support her girls through swim team, 4-H, Sunday school and Girl Scouts, as well as all school activities. Charlyne and Harold later divorced.

On May 13, 1973, she was united in marriage to Paul “Pete” Anderson. Pete’s occupation required many moves throughout their marriage. They eventually settled in Ft. Scott, Kansas where they owned and operated The Colonial Restaurant. Pete passed away in October, 1997 and Charlyne made her way back to Rock Port. There she led an active life volunteering at the Rock Port Nutrition Center where she became a member of the Advisory Board. She was happy to again be near her “girls” and grandchildren.

Charlyne was a master crocheter and loved to entertain and cook for friends and family. She loved being outdoors and took great pride in her flower gardens and yard. Music played a big role in her life as she loved to play her violin, piano and sing along with the girls. Charlyne passed away December 20, 2007 at the Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, Missouri at the age of 73 years.

Besides her parents, Charlyne was preceded in death by her husband, Paul. Charlyne is survived by daughters; Chris Lewis and her husband Jim, Marilyn McMahon and her husband Ron, Brenda Hughes and her husband Rick, all of Rock Port and Debra Lee, St. Joseph, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Marlyne Preuitt and her husband John; brother, Gene Wells and his wife Barbara; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
