E. Patricia “Pat” Meek, the daughter of Lauren Virgil and Mabel Pearl (Kemerling) Harbison was born May 21, 1935, in Tarkio, Missouri. After graduating from Tarkio High School in 1953, she briefly attended Tarkio College.
On September 21, 1955, Pat was united in marriage to Dean Meek at the United Methodist Church in Tarkio. They made their home their entire married life in Tarkio where they established, owned, and operated Meek and Sons Plumbing and Heating. In addition to being a homemaker, Pat was the office manager for the family business retiring in 2003. Dean passed away in 1997. Pat passed away, Friday, January 9, 2015 at her son Donnie’s home in Tarkio at the age of 79.
Pat’s faith was important to her. As a young adult, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tarkio where she was a Sunday school teacher and helped establish the children’s “Sunbeams” program. Later, she joined the United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and lending a helping hand at fellowship hour.
Pat supported her family and community in many ways. She was a member of the school’s Parent Teacher’s Association and enjoyed baking pies for various community events. She was a steady fixture at her son’s athletic, scouting, and other events. She was a booster for Tarkio High School and Tarkio College and a member of the Tarkio Chapter of Eastern Star.
Besides her parents and husband, Dean, Pat was preceded in death by son, Derek Meek and sister, Beverly Springer. She is survived by three sons, Donnie (Pam) Meek, Tarkio, David (Becky) Meek, Pittsburgh, Kansas, and Darrin Meek, Plano, Texas; twelve grandchildren, Timothy, Jonathan, Andrea, Angela, Dallas, Kayla, Madison, Keneedee, Synclaire, Anna, Dalanie and Paige; two great-grandchildren, Brynleigh and Deklan; sister, Luretta (Clifford) Smith, Tarkio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
GRAVESIDE MEMORIAL SERVICE AND INURNMENT: 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, January 13, 2015, Home Cemetery, Tarkio, Missouri.
There is no visitation.
