E. Rosalie Woodring, the daughter of Roy Henry and Wilma Hope (Greer) Voltmer was born October 11, 1930, in Rock Port, Missouri. She attended Tarkio High School, graduating in 1949.
On September 20, 1958, Rosalie was united in marriage to Garvin Lee Woodring by Rev. Swadley in Pearl Williams home in Tarkio where they became the parents of two daughters, Teresa and Julie. Rosie enjoyed being a military wife and traveled to many places with her family but her and Garvin settled to their final home in Tarkio in 1973.
Rosalie was employed as the City Clerk of Tarkio for 30 years and then as the Mayor of Tarkio for 8 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Allen–Schiffern American Legion Auxiliary Unit #199 of Tarkio. Rosie was a member of the Missouri Clerk’s Association and was a former member of the Tarkio Professional Business Women. Garvin passed away in 1975 and Rosalie joined him in heaven on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at the age of 87.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rosalie was preceded in death by grandparents, Tony and Edith Greer, brother, Duane Voltmer, sister, Joan Bungenstock and several nieces and nephews. Survivors include daughters, Teresa Morehouse and husband, Tim, Tarkio, and Julie Thompson and husband, Ron, Shawnee, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Ashley Alsup and longtime friend, Travis, Matthew Alsup and wife, Jessica, all of Tarkio, and Kamron Woodring and wife, Crystal, Fairfax, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, Zachery, Mikayla, Payton, Parker, Brynna, Ryan, Raelee and Rogan; three sisters, Rita Vance, Tarkio, Joyce Brown, Midwest City, Oklahoma, and Arnelle Lansdown, Rock Port; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosalie made friends wherever she went, her favorite pastime included bowling, golf and countryside car rides looking at wildlife. She loved her family more than anything and was known to send out a search party whenever she was concerned. Rosalie has passed on her love of bonfires to all her grandchildren as well as so many memories that will last a lifetime.
Memorial Service: 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 11, 2017, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
Private family inurnment at a later date at Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
There is no visitation.
