On Wednesday, November 15, 2006 Edith Mary (Zeigel) Jackson went into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at the age of 93 years, seven months and one day.

Edith was born April 14, 1913 in Sweet Springs, Missouri, the daughter of William and Cora (Page) Zeigel. Edith attended school in Fairfax, Missouri. Edith married Walter Jackson December 24, 1930 and lived in rural Tarkio, Missouri and later moved into town. Their marriage brought forth five daughters and one son, Beverly, Norma, Mary, Kenneth, Faith and Teresa. They were later divorced.

Edith has lived much of her life in Tarkio. She was a telephone operator for the Tarkio Telephone Company from approximately 1949 to about 1962. She worked for a short time at a local drug store before traveling to Twin Falls, Idaho where she worked for a potato factory. When Edith returned in 1966, she moved to St. Joseph, Missouri where she worked as a nurse’s aid at Methodist Hospital. In 1978, Edith returned to Tarkio and was employed by Community Hospital, Fairfax.

In 1978, Edith officially retired from the Methodist Hospital system, yet in her heart, she truly never retired. Edith loved to be active and work was her life. She worked cleaning homes for others, and worked ever so hard in her own home and yard where she lived until her passing. Edith had also cleaned the Tarkio Assembly of God Church where she was a faithful long standing member.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Norma Carol Jackson and Mary (Jackson) Long, three sisters, three brothers, three grandchildren, daughter-in-law Peggy Jackson and son-in-law A. J. Eyman.

Edith is survived by her children, Beverly Gibbons, and husband, Henry, Tarkio, Kenneth Jackson, Destin, Florida, Faith Eyman, Nebraska City, Nebraska, and Teresa McCarthy and husband, Bob, Granby, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren, one sister, Lola May Jackson and other family members and friends.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for your many kindnesses evidenced in thoughts, deeds and for your attendance at the funeral services. May God bless each and every one.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, November 18, 2006 at the Assembly of God Church, Tarkio, with burial at Prairie Hill Cemetery, Tarkio. Memorials may be directed to the Assembly of God Church.
