Edward John Wilczek, the son of Andrew Charles and Josephine (Wisz) Wilczek, was born January 17, 1934 in Monaca, Pennsylvania. Ed attended Monaca High School, Monaca, graduating in 1951. On January 14, 1954, Ed entered the United States Army and served his country for two years. He received his honorable discharge on January 13, 1956 in Fort Hood, Texas. He then attended Tarkio College, Tarkio, Missouri, earning his Bachelor’s degree in 1963.

 

On April 1, 1958, Ed was united in marriage to Judy Haun at St. John’s Catholic Church in Monaca. They became the parents of three sons, Mick, Mark, and Matt. Judy passed away on May 25, 2021.

 

Ed was employed as a teacher at Watson High School, Watson, Missouri, then as a baseball coach and history teacher for West Lyon High School, Inwood, Iowa for two years. Ed was then employed by Missouri Beef Packers, Phelps City, Missouri before being employed by Cooper Nuclear Station in security. He retired in 1996.

 

Ed enjoyed watching sports, especially the Pittsburg Steelers. Ed passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, Missouri, at the age of 88.

 

Besides his parents, Ed was preceded in death by brothers, Andrew and Robert Wilczek and sister, Dorothy Russin. Survivors include children, Mick (Misty) Wilczek, Albany, Missouri, Mark (Lisa) Wilczek, Rock Port, and Matt (Deb) Wilczek, Papillion, Nebraska; grandchildren, Aaron Wilczek, Trent (Lauren) Wilczek, Cole (Melinda) Wilczek, Lacy (David) Lara, Jacob Wilczek, and Eli Wilczek; great grandson, Gavin Nicholas Wilczek; brother, Chester A. Wilczek, Monaca; sister-in-law, Jan Burke, Rock Port; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Memorial Service: 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 10, 2023, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.

There is no schedule visitation.

Inurnment: Greenhill Cemetery, Rock Port.

Memorials: Rock Port Senior Center.

Arrangements: Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
