Edwyna Maxine Brown
June 26, 1924 - February 9, 2011
Edwyna Maxine Brown, the daughter of Floyd and Ruth (Hurst) Graham, was born on June 26, 1924, in Elmo, Missouri. She attended the High Prairie country school and graduated from Elmo High School in Elmo, Missouri. She then became a student at the Central Business College, Kansas City, Missouri. After graduation she was employed by the Commerce Trust Bank in Kansas City.
On February 12, 1945, Edwyna was united in marriage to Loren James Brown in Kansas City, Missouri, and they were married for 66 years. Edwyna and Loren made their home and farmed the Graham family farm in Elmo and became the parents of 3 children, Larry Lynn, Linda Lee and Lyle LeRoy. In 1954 they purchased and moved to a farm East of Tarkio. In 1984 they moved into Tarkio where she lived to the present time. Loren passed away October 28, 2004. Edwyna passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at Bryan L.G.H. Medical Center West, Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 86 years.
Edwyna was employed for First National Bank in Tarkio for more than 20 years. She was a fabulous wife, mother, grandmother and was a loyal friend and supporter of the Tarkio community. Edwyna and Loren loved to dance, fish and travel, and had visited all the continents except Antarctica and Africa. Even with their numerous travels, the family enjoyed many memorable gatherings at their cabin on Big Lake. She played cards with her girlfriends and was active in various community organizations. Edwyna was a member of United Methodist Church and Allen-Schiffern American Legion Auxiliary of Tarkio, the Moila Temple Ladies Auxiliary, St. Joseph, Missouri, and a former leader of Homer 4-H Club.
Besides her parents and husband, Edwyna was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence Graham. Survivors include her son, Larry Lynn Brown, Tarkio, grandson, Matthew L. Brown; daughter, Linda Lee Hall, Four Seasons, Missouri, granddaughter, Channing Pike, and her husband, Dillon, great-grandchildren, Isabella Bo and Josephine Harper Pike; and son, Lyle LeRoy Brown and his wife, Phyllis, Rock Port, Missouri, granddaughter, Stephanie Lininger and her husband, Randy, great-grandchildren, Brooke and Blake Loren Lininger, grandson, Jason Brown, great-grandchildren, Krystal, Madeline and Nancy Brown, grandson, Trent Brown and his wife, Tabitha, great-grandchildren, Taylor, Alexis and Kamren Brown, step granddaughter, Kristy Noland and her husband, Donny, step great-grandchildren, Shelbie, Addison, Michan, Rhett and Cody, step grandson, Jason Baugh, step great-grandchildren, Laura, Logan and Rylin.
Funeral Service:
2:00 p.m. Sunday, February, 13, 2011.
United Methodist Church, Tarkio.
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2011, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
