Elizabeth M. "Betty" Smith
July 22, 1943 - March 24, 2021
Elizabeth M. “Betty” Smith, the daughter of Roy E. and Allie E. (Brown) Redfern, was born July 22, 1943 in Tarkio, Missouri. Betty attended Tarkio High School, Tarkio, graduating in 1961. Later that year, she began IBM Key Punch Training.
On June 24, 1962, Betty was united in marriage to Robert D. (Bob) Smith at the First Baptist Church in Tarkio. They made their home in Tarkio and became the parents of one son, David.
Betty worked numerous jobs throughout her life including Hallmark Cards, Kansas City, Missouri, Tarkio Avalanche, Secretary for the Vice President of Admissions at Tarkio College, a clerk typist at Tarkio Health Center, Baer and Associates, and Broin and Associates and finally for Golden Triangle Energy, Craig, Missouri as a bookkeeper, retiring in 2009. Since 1995, Betty was also employed part-time as a receptionist for weight watchers for numerous communities in the Northwest Missouri area.
Betty was a former member of Tarkio Ladies Golf Association. Betty passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at her home in Tarkio, at the age of 77.
Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by grandparents, Louis and Viola Redfern, and Ray and Alta Brown; sister-in-law, Trudy Redfern, brother-in-law, Ron Archambault. Survivors include husband, Robert D. Smith, Tarkio; son, David (Gloria) Smith, Tarkio; granddaughter, Katie Smith, Tarkio; brothers, Jim Redfern, Overland Park, Kansas, Bob (Joyce) Redfern, Everett, Oregon, and Ed Redfern, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, sisters, Catherine Archambault, Stockton, Missouri, and Dianna (Chris) Kramer, Lenexa, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 29, 2021, First Baptist Church, Tarkio.
Open visitation begins 10:00 A.M., Sunday, March 28, 2021, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, where the family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 P.M.
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
Memorials: American Cancer Society or Tarkio Nutrition Center.
