Evelyn Kay (Volker) Evans, the daughter of Harold H. and Sarah E. (Close) Volker, was born July 3, 1943 in Maryville, Missouri. She attended Daleview Country School and Fairfax High School, Fairfax, Missouri, graduating in 1961. Kay then attended and graduated from St. Joseph Beauty School, St. Joseph, Missouri, and opened a beauty shop in Tarkio.

Kay was married to J. D. Evans and was later divorced. For the last several years Kay was a resident of Wichita, Kansas, where she lived to the present time. For a number of years Kay worked for the Salvation Army in Wichita. Kay passed away June 18, 2007 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita at the age of 63 years.

Besides her parents Kay was preceded in death by one brother, James R. New, and one sister, Phyllis Burke. Survivors include her brother, Harold (Bud) Volker and his wife Cheryl, Tarkio, Kay’s companion of 14 years, Larry Williams, Wichita; four step-sons, Kim Evans, Watson, Missouri, Steve Evans, Tarkio, Reed Evans and Rocky Evans, both of Rock Port, Missouri; brother-in-law, Gilbert Burke, Rock Port; sister-in-law, Kay New, Liberty, Missouri; friend and former sister-in-law Charlene Volker, Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services: 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2007, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio
The family will receive friends 10:00 –  11:00 a.m. prior to the service at Davis Funeral Home.
Inurnment: Tharp Cemetery, Fairfax, Missouri (adjacent to Sharps Grove Church).
