Evelyn L. Volker
1921-2012
Tarkio, Missouri

 

Evelyn L. Volker, the daughter of Gustave and Edna (Peterson) Larson, was born February 26, 1921, in Garland, Utah. She attended Garland Elementary School, before graduating from Bear River High School, Tremonton, Utah, in 1939. Evelyn also attended Business College in Ogden, Utah.

 

On February 1, 1947, Evelyn was united in marriage to Martin K. Volker, in Salt Lake City, Utah. To this union, four sons were born, Alan, Stephen, Robert and Curtis. They made their home on the Volker family farm in Tarkio for their entire married life. While in Utah, Evelyn was employed by the Hillfield Air Base in Ogden and Bushnell Hospital, where she specialized in amputee’s recuperation and fitting with prosthetic devices. In Tarkio, Evelyn worked as Martin’s secretary in the Shield of Shelter Insurance Business for thirty years and helped with the family farming business. Evelyn passed away April 2, 2012, at Tarkio Rehabilitation and Health Care, Tarkio, at the age of 91.

 

Evelyn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints Maryville Branch, the Mule Barn Guild, Tarkio Chamber of Commerce and the Book Club. She enjoyed painting, especially oil canvas.

 

Besides her parents, Evelyn is preceded in death by husband, Martin K. Volker and sister, Dorothy Smith. Survivors include sons, Alan Volker and wife, Debbie and Stephen Volker and wife, Marvetta, all of Tarkio, Robert Volker and wife, Cindy, Sedalia, Missouri, and Curtis Volker and wife, Marcia, Shenandoah, Iowa; four grandsons, Brad Volker and wife, Cassie and Justin, Garrett and Matthew Volker; one step granddaughter, Mikaila Lair and husband, Brogan; one step grandson, Zane Holmes; two great granddaughters, Avery J. Volker and Kinley E. Lair; one brother, Gordon Larson, Tremonton, Utah; one sister, Betty Wilson, Portland, Oregon; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Graveside Service and Interment: 10:30 A.M., Thursday, April 5, 2012, Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
Open visitation will begin 9:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, where the family will receive friends 7:00-8:00 P.M., that evening.
