Evelyn M. Bressler
1926 -2013
Rock Port, Missouri
Evelyn Marie (Cooper) Bressler, the daughter of Willie J. and Ethel Cooper, was born on December 31, 1926, on the family farm south of Rock Port, Missouri. She passed away at her home, the same farm where she was born, on July 11, 2013, at the age of 86, which she always wished would happern. Evelyn attended elementary school at Cooper School and graduated from Rock Port High School in 1944.
On January 22, 1945, Evelyn was united in marriage to Kenneth D. “Bud” Bressler in Hiawatha, Kansas, at the Lutheran Church. Bud and Evelyn made their home in the town of Rock Port until 1948, at which time they moved to her parent’s farm. They lived there the remainder of their lives. Evelyn cherished her husband for 61 years. Together they brought two sons into the world, Dwane M. and Paul K. Bressler, whom she looked after and tended to her entire life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Evelyn enjoyed her family, friends and people in general very much. She loved spending time and being around Joni, her buddy and make-believe daughter. She often took Joni, along with her granddaughter, LoryAnne, to do one of her favorite things, shopping, shopping and more shopping! She always looked forward to her all girl days.
Outside of the home, Evelyn worked at the Bank of Atchison County and the Atchison County Courthouse and considered each of her customers and co-workers as friends. She never met a stranger. Evelyn was not content unless she was fussing after the men. She cooked great family meals on Saturday’s and everyone attended. She lived for looking after her family.
Her grandson, Eric, was the apple of her eye. She loved listening to his and Bud’s hunting adventures, attending his sporting events and making his favorite foods. Later in life, she felt blessed to meet and be around her great-grandchildren. Boy, how she loved them! They always added a twinkle to her eye and she couldn’t have been more proud of the four of them. Evelyn was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port and Hunter Cemetery Association.
Survivors include her sons, Dwane M. Bressler and wife, Joni, Fairfax, Missouri, and Paul K. Bressler, Rock Port; two grandchildren, Eric D.
