Everett R. Shaw
1929 -2011
Rock Port, Missouri

 

Everett Reed Shaw, the son of Ora Albert and Sarah Carolyn (King) Shaw, was born November 8, 1929 in Phelps City, Missouri and was a life-long resident of the area. He attended school in Phelps City and graduated from Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri in 1949.

 

Following graduation, Everett farmed for Scamman & Co. In 1951, Everett entered the United States Army, serving his country in the Korean War. He attained the rank of Corporal and received his honorable discharge in October of 1953. Everett returned to the Rock Port area and continued farming for Scamman & Co. until his retirement.

 

Everett was united in marriage to Deloris Shiveley on May 4, 1957, by Rev. G.S. Swadley at the Rock Port Baptist Church. They became the parents of five children. Everett passed away Monday, March 21, 2011, at his home near Rock Port, at the age of 81 years.

 

Besides his parents, Everett was preceded in death by one sister, Vivian Perry; one brother, Franklin “Sonny” Shaw; and granddaughter, Jennifer Elayne Shaw. Survivors include his wife, Deloris, of the home, Rock Port; children, Rick Shaw and his wife, Lori, Brenda Shaw and her husband, Steve, Mary Rouse and her husband, Fred, Albert Shaw and Barton Shaw, all of Rock Port; four grandchildren, Mandy Rasco and her husband, Terry, Sidney, Iowa, Amber Shaw, Sidney, Kara Smith and her husband, Bill, Marshall, Missouri, and Andrew Rouse and his wife, Jessica, Rock Port; seven great-grandchildren, Calder, Caitlynn and Conner Rasco, Shayleigh, Haidee and Mavarick Smith, and Katelynn Rouse; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Sierks and her husband, John, Esther Moore, and Betty McMahon; brother-in-law, Donald “Buckshot” Shiveley and his wife, Sam; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2011, Rock Port Baptist Church.
Interment: Elmwood Cemetery, Rock Port.
The Family will Receive Friends: From 7:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, March 25, 2011, at Minter Funeral Chapel.
Memorials: Everett Reed Shaw Memorial Fund.
Military Rites Under the Auspices of:
Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49.
Services: Minter Funeral Chapel.
