Fay Edith Cooper, the daughter of Fred and Rosena (Mensen) Cooper, was born November 22, 1914 in Rock Port, Missouri. She attended the West Bend Country School, and Caster’s Beauty Academy in St. Joseph, Missouri. After passing the Missouri State Board and becoming a licensed beautician, she worked for a short time at a salon in Rock Port.
In 1947, Fay moved into Rock Port, along with her parents. She was employed as a telephone operator for a number of years, until the company went to a dial system. In later years, Fay worked in sales in local Rock Port businesses.
Fay was baptized at a young age, and later became a confirmed member of the First Lutheran Church of Rock Port. She truly enjoyed her church work. Fay also loved her flowers and they made her home a “very showy placeâ€. Her house plants thrived on her tender loving care. Fay enjoyed playing the piano and organ, and did beautiful crochet work. She lived in her home on Calhoun Street until she entered Pleasant View Nursing Home in December of 2002. Fay passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the nursing home at the age of 93 years.
Besides her parents, Fay was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law Orba and Arthur Rosenbohm; and one infant niece. Survivors include numerous cousins.
Services: Saturday, March 15, 2008, 10:00 am, First Lutheran Church, Rock Port. Interment: Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.
There is no scheduled family visitaion.
Memorials: Atchison County First Responders or Hunter Cemetery Association.
