Florence Margaret Rolf, the daughter of John Henry and Emma Nolte Kemper, was born March 3, 1923 in rural Tarkio, Missouri. She graduated from Tarkio High School and attended one year at Tarkio College. Florence then became a student at Immanuel School of Nursing in Omaha, NE., graduating as a registered nurse. She was employed by Hand Hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa.
Florence was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro, MO. On October 10, 1946 Florence was united in marriage to Lester Rudolph Rolf at St. John’s Lutheran Church. They lived near Westboro, Missouri, for nine years, then moved to the Kemper home place in the Farmer City community. She was a beloved wife and mother. Her life was centered on loving the Lord, her family, and many friends. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandson.
Florence was very active in the church, serving as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, church secretary and a Girl Scout leader. She served many years as a member and an officer in LCW. Florence passed away Sunday, February 4, 2007 at Clarkson Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 83 years.
Survivors include one son, Glenn Rolf and his wife Barbara, Tarkio; two daughters, Julia Snyder and her husband Pat, Tarkio and Kathleen Reynolds and her husband Tom, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Adam Rolf and his wife Rachel, Skylar and Jessica Rolf, Jana, Jonathan and Amy Snyder, and Julianne Hand and her husband Andrew; one great-grandson, Jacob Hand.
Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester in 1989.
Services were held 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at the St. John’s Church, Westboro, Missouri, with burial in the St. John’s Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the St. John’s Church.
