Garland Eugene Gilmore, the son of Harry Eugene and Dorothy Marie (Groff) Gilmore was born August 18, 1942, in Hamburg, Iowa. He attended school in Pawnee City, Nebraska, and Cody, Wyoming. In 1958, his family moved to Rock Port, Missouri, and he began working for his Granddad, Frank Groff, at the Rock Port Sale Barn. In the fall of 1962, Garland moved with his parents to Anchorage, Alaska.

On June 3, 1963, Garland was united in marriage to Sharon Bartles in Palmer, Alaska. They made their home in Anchorage and became the parents of two children, Teresa and Harland. They were later divorced.

Garland was employed in auto body repair for Alaska Sales and Service and was self-employed as an auto body repairman until retiring in April due to his health. Garland passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at his home in Anchorage, at the age of 72.

Besides his parents, Garland was preceded in death by brother, Charles Gilmore, and one infant brother; two sisters, Linda Cooper and Sandra Gilmore. Survivors include daughter, Teresa Gilmore, Nebraska; son, Harland Gilmore, Anchorage; grandchildren, Sean Standridge, Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Jessica Gilmore, Omaha, Nebraska, Waylon Gilmore, Auburn, Nebraska, Shalom Lord Gilmore and Mirah Louise Gilmore, both of Anchorage; four sisters, JoAnn Slater, Cody, Janice Gilmore, Bainbridge, Georgia, Nancy Slater, Anchorage, and Darlene Barnhart and husband, Byron, Rock Port; former wife, Sharon Gilmore, Falls City, Nebraska; great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held Monday, June 15, 2015, Greenhill Cemetery, Rock Port.
