Gary W. Armstrong

1943-2018

Rock Port, Missouri

 

Gary Wayne Armstrong, the son of John F. and Vera Mae (Thompson) Armstrong, was born May 20, 1943, in Watson, Missouri.  More affectionately known as (Choc), he attended Watson High School, graduating in 1961.

 

Choc was employed by Stanton Grain in Watson and the Hamburg COOP, before being drafted into the United States Army in 1965.  He was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War and proudly served his country for two years.  He received his honorable discharge February 21, 1967.  Choc then returned to Missouri and was employed by Harold (Bud) Martin for 37 years, retiring in 2005.

 

Choc was a member of the Watson Baptist Church, Watson Volunteer Fire Department and served as chairman of the town of Watson Board of Trustees.  Choc passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018, at the VA Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 74.

 

In addition to his parents, Choc was preceded in death by four brothers, Gerald and Kenneth Armstrong, John Armstrong, Jr. and Leo Armstrong.  Survivors include brother, Jim Armstrong and wife, Barbara, Hamburg; two sisters, Lylith Gardner, Omaha, and Hollis Holmes and husband, Chris, Watson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 1, 2018, Minter Funeral Chapel

Interment:  Linden Cemetery, Rock Port.

Open visitation begins 9:00 A.M., Monday, April 30, Minter Funeral Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 P.M.
