May I add my belated condolences to the family for the loss of such a fine gentleman. George Laur deserves all the good things that others have said about him, and he has certainly left a wonderful legacy for family and friends. My acquaintance with George was when he visited in the home of his father-in-law, Charles Hoshor, sr., when he was married to my aunt, Alice Alexander,(who loved and admired George) after the loss of Charles sr.' first wife. We enjoyed visits then, to his farmstead, and later, when he was the administrator of my aunt Alice's estate. Though our time spent with George was brief, my husband and I immediately recognized we were meeting with an extra-ordinary individual, being pleased to know him as a friend. I am sorry to learn of his passing; the world is a better place for knowing George Laur.

Dearest Linda, We send our sincere condolences to you, Barbara, Dave and George. Adrian was honored to have met your dad, and enjoyed all of his B-24 pilot stories. Adrian was so excited that he could hardly wait to tell his dad about your dad. Your dad was a beautiful soul. My fondest memory of George and Patti is when they attended Milby High School Senior Prom with us. They were the cutest couple in attendance. I pray you will take comfort in the beautiful memories of his love for all of you.

To all the Laur family--so sorry to hear of your father's passing. Reading the obituary brought back many memories from 60+ years ago when we lived just down the road from you and all attended 4H and many other functions at the Morning Sun schoolhouse. Your dad was a special kind of person and you were lucky to have him with you for so long and with continuing good health and mental acuity from what I can tell. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayrs as you celebrate your father's life.

I wasn't personally acquainted with Mr. Laur but I know he must have been a very special person. To have children as special in every way as Barbara, Linda, George and David is something that requires very special parents. Love and fond memories for the short time I was privileged to spend with each of you. Brady Craven. Nann and I just celebrated our 60th wedding Anniversay. Love you all!

Dear Barb, George, Linda, & David Just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate to have known your parents. I have fond memories spending time with them whether it was mowing the yard, painting the old schoolhouse, fishing in the ponds, chopping silage, having lunch or drinking Pepsi with them it was wonderful times and lessons in life. Looking back, I realize what a great experience it was to have been welcomed into their home and to meet the many foreign students that stayed there, and how kind it was of them to invite those students into their home. It’s been many years now since I last visited with your Dad, by then his hearing was failing and it was difficult to have a conversation, but we did. I remember calling him Mr. Laur and he quickly corrected me and said I’m still just George to you. He asked all about my career and gave me a wonderful compliment about a small-town farm boy going out into the world and doing well for himself, a compliment I’ll never forget. While I’m sad to learn of his passing, he lived a long, wonderful life, and was loved by many, and that’s all any of us can hope for.

GOOD MORNING TO ALL OF THE LAUR FAMILY. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL LIFE MR. LAUR LIVED. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE AND MODEST MAN HE WAS. ONE HAD TO LISTEN CAREFULLY TO EVER HEAR ANY KIND OF BRAG ABOUT ANYTHING UNLESS HE WAS TALKING ABOUT FAMILY. MR. LAUR WAS SOLID-ROCK SOLID. KNOWN TO ALL AND LOVED BY ALL AS WELL. HE AND HIS WIFE DID A WONDERFUL JOB OF HAVING AND RAISING A REALLY GREAT FAMILY AND TAUGHT THEM ALL ABOUT WORK ETHIC, EDUCATION VALUE, LOVE OF FAMILY AND GOD. WHAT MORE IS THERE TO DO? ONE OF MY GREATEST MEMORIES I HAD WAS WATCHING AND LISTENING TO THE INCREDIBLE QUARTET OF SINGERS HE WAS A PART OF. HE, MR. WENNIHAN, MR MARQUART, AND MY FATHER JIM ERICKSON. THEY WERE WONDERFUL AND ENTERTAINED AT SCHOOL PROGRAMS, COMMUNITY EVENTS, WEDDINGS, ETC. AGAIN WE WERE LUCKY TO HAVE SUCH A GROUP OF MEN. YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN SO FORTUNATE TO HAVE MR. LAUR STAY ON THIS EARTH THIS LONG, ESPECIALLY IN THE CONDITION HE WAS ABLE TO KEEP LIVING IN. JUST LAST SUMMER LISTENING TO HIM, ONE WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO GUESS HIS AGE. ALWAYS A SMILE ON HIS FACE. HE TRULY LIVED A VERY SPECIAL LIFE AND WE ARE ALL LUCKY TO HAVE KNOWN THIS GREAT MAN. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU AND THE GRANDCHILDREN. J.STEPHEN ERICKSON CLASS OF '68
