Georgia June (Christian) Lynn, the daughter of George Herman and Matie Marie (Cooper) Christian, was born in Langdon, Missouri on June 1, 1925. Her elementary years were spent at Cooper and West Bend country schools. June attended Rock Port High School in Rock Port, Missouri through the eleventh grade.

 

June was united in marriage to Glenn Edward (Jack) Lynn on January 10, 1942. They were later divorced. June worked at the Hamburg Nursery in Hamburg, Iowa and the Community Services in Rock Port. For several years, she worked at the Rock Port Senior Center, helping with the transportation of senior citizens and serving meals. After her retirement in 1985, June continued to volunteer countless hours helping local senior citizens, something she enjoyed until her health no longer permitted.

 

Being baptized and confirmed at the Rock Port Lutheran Church, June was an active member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Women, taught Sunday School, the Cradle Roll and helped for many years with Vacation Bible School. June enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to cook and embroidered in her spare time. June passed away Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Community Hospital – Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 84 years.

 

Besides her parents, June was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Hollister; granddaughter, Connie Griffin; great granddaughter, Jazirae Renee Haggard. She is survived by her son, Jack W. Lynn and his wife, Deanna, Ashland, Nebraska and her daughter, Judy K. McCoy and her husband, Floyd, Missouri City, Missouri; a granddaughter she raised, Dianna K. Hawkins and her husband, H.A., Tarkio, Missouri; grandchildren, Jeff Lynn, Sarah Jones, Brenda Kennedy, Rebecca Howell and Dusty Haggard; 18 great grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

 

Services: 10:00 am, Monday, April 12, 2010, First Lutheran Church, Rock Port.
Interment: Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.
Visitation: 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Sunday, April 11, 2010, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
