Gerri L. Nicks, the daughter of Wayne Virgil and Bonnie Jean (Heldt) Baumann, was born May 29, 1951, in Denison, Iowa. Due to numerous family moves, Gerri attended several schools in her youth. She graduated from Denison High School.
Gerri was united in marriage to Randy Stephens and they became the parents of two children, Jennifer and Jason. They were later divorced. In 1989, Gerri was united in marriage to James L. Nicks. They made their home in the Rock Port, Missouri area their entire married life.
For many years Gerri was a bookkeeper for local businesses, including motels, gas stations and convenience stores. Gerri also was a bartender at Trails End and J & M Lounge, both in Rock Port. Gerri currently was a bookkeeper for her daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Kaven Wood, at their convenience store, “The Wood’s Shed” in Rock Port. She enjoyed bowling and maintaining a large flower garden. Gerri passed away Friday, October 19, 2012, at Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 61.
Gerri was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include husband, James, Watson, Missouri; daughter, Jennifer and husband, Kaven, Rock Port; son, Jason Stephens and significant other, Sarah, Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren, Hayden, Keaton and Ethan Wood and Breea Stephens; and brother, Tyson Baumann, Omaha, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Jerry Nicks and his wife Sylvia, Springfield, Missouri and sister-in-law, Judy Johnson and her husband Ken, Des Moines, Iowa.
Graveside Service and Interment:
2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 23, 2012, Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.
The family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 P.M., Monday, October 22, 2012, at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
