Gilmer “Red” Loring Brush, the son of Gilmer (Gib) George and Helen Marie (Pfeiffer) Brush, was born July 29, 1953, in Los Angeles, California. He attended Hollywood High School, Hollywood California and later learned the construction trade in the Job Corps.

 

In 1972, Gilmer was united in marriage to Alice Colette Smith and became the parents of two daughters, Athena and Heather. They later divorced. He was then united in marriage to Judy Ann Carlsen in 1983 and became the parents of one son, Loring. Judy passed away in May of 2017.

 

In the early 1970’s, Gilmer began working in construction in Utah. He later owned and operated Brush Remodeling and Construction as well as Hogup Trade Co., retiring from construction in 2007

 

Gilmer was an avid Native American artifact and antiques collector. Gilmer passed away Friday, November 22, 2024, Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, Missouri, at the age of 71.

 

Besides his parents and wife, Judy Ann, Gilmer was preceded in death by great grandson, Nathan; sisters, Bonnie Lynn and Mary Jane. Survivors include children, Athena (Myrle) Cunningham, Tarkio, Missouri, Heather (Brian) White, Hamburg, Iowa, and Loring Brush (Ashli Cashion), Plain City, Utah; grandchildren, Kimberly (Drake), Marty (Shariden), Amanda (Enrique), Virgil (Lesli), Makayla, Brett, Hailey (Noah), Aiden, Konner, and Kyler; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Genji (Stephen) Leclair, Fremont, Michigan; niece and nephew.

 

There are no scheduled memorial services.
Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Pleasant View Activities Fund.
Cremation Arrangements: Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
