Glen W. Carlson, son of Willis and Ruth Ballard Carlson, was born August 19, 1926, in Tarkio, Missouri. He passed away on October 29, 2011, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 85. Glen or “Peanuts,” as many knew him while growing up in Tarkio, attended South York Country School, and Fairfax High School, Fairfax, Missouri. He joined the United States Army and served from 1945-1946 as a truck driver and a heavy equipment operator. He was on one of the first ships to land and clean up Japan after the bombing.

 

Glen was united in marriage to Belva Deloris Cook on January 2, 1947. To this union four children were born, twin daughters Glenda and Linda, Deloris Ann and Richard. On October 14, 1967, Glen was united in marriage to Patricia Hill, adding her six children; Debbie, DeAnn, Janet, Jeff, Ronny and Randy, to his family. During Glen’s lifetime he worked as a bulldozer operator, welder and mechanic, and later in life was a part-time grounds keeper for a golf course. He enjoyed camping, fishing and family gatherings of any kind.

 

Besides his parents, Glen was preceded in death by children, Linda Kay and Jeff Archer; infant brother, Charles David and sister, Martha Dean Carlson Matthews. Survivors include his children, Glenda Erlewine and husband, Pat, Shenandoah, Iowa; Deloris Daigh and husband, Kermit, Fayetteville, Arkansas; Richard Carlson, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Janet Thomason, Mandan, North Dakota; Debbie Felt, Omaha, Nebraska; DeAnn Intrieri and husband, Mike, Waterloo, Nebraska; Ronny Archer, Silver City, Iowa and Randy Archer and wife, Jennifer, Glenwood, Iowa; twenty-seven grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.

 

Private Memorial Graveside Services and Inurnment to be held at a later date at Home Cemetery, Tarkio, Missouri.
Memorials may be directed to the Glen Carlson Memorial Fund.
There is no visitation.
