Grace Annabelle (Sauder) Clapp, the daughter of Ralph and Mina (Peres) Sauder, was born on May 13, 1915 near Gridley, Kansas. She was raised in Burlington, Kansas where she attended the Burlington Schools, graduating in 1933. For the next five years, she was employed as a clerk.
On February 2, 1938, she was united in marriage to Orville L. Clapp in Emporia, Kansas. Grace and Orville spent most of their married life farming in the Burlington community. They became the parents of two sons; Donald and Kenneth Clapp. In later years, she was employed by Giesy Clothing Store, where she enjoyed interacting with people. Grace and Orville spent several winters in Arizona, and also celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Arizona with their children, grandchildren and other relatives. They moved into Burlington from their farm, west of town, to retire. Orville passed away on May 22, 1988. In 2002, she moved to Tarkio, Missouri to live closer to her son, Kenny and his family. She was very proud of her family, and they were precious to her. Grace passed away Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Community Hospital – Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 93 years, 7 months and 28 days.
Grace was a former member of the Burlington Christian Church, the Senior Citizens and many card clubs. She was a volunteer at the Coffey County Museum and the nursing home. Grace had a special place in her heart for the people living there; sharing her flowers, reading, and helping with crafts. Grace was also a member of the Tarkio Christian Church.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Orville; one brother, Everett Sauder; and one sister, Irene Williams. She is survived by her two sons, Donald Clapp and wife, Louise, of Aguilar, Colorado, and Kenneth Clapp and wife, Joy, of Tarkio, Missouri; four grandchildren, Mike Clapp and wife, Keitha, Becky Murdock, and husband, Eddie, Ryan Clapp and wife, Dori, and Robbie Clapp; eight great grandchildren, one brother, Ray Sauder, Lakewood, California; and many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at the Burlington Christian Church in Burlington.
