Grace C. Lane
1931-2015
St. Joseph, Missouri

 

Grace Clara (Gillinwater) Lane, the daughter of Wiley and Carrie (Addington) Gillinwater, was born October 18, 1931, in Jonesborough, Tennessee. She attended Midway country school and graduated from high school in Gate City, Virginia.

 

In her late twenties, Grace moved with her family to Nebraska where she was employed by Mutual of Omaha. On February 21, 1959, Grace was united in marriage to Kenneth James Lane in Hamburg, Iowa. They made their home south of Rock Port, Missouri, in the Langdon community, and became the parents of one son, Kevin. For 27 years, they farmed for George and Daisy Opp.

 

Grace also worked at Trail’s End in Rock Port, Missouri, and the Corning Restaurant in Corning, Missouri. In 1990 they moved west of Fairfax and farmed before moving to St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1993, where they lived to the present time. Grace passed away Monday, December 21, 2015, at Carriage Square Healthcare, St. Joseph, at the age of 84.

 

Besides her parents, Grace was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Survivors include husband, Kenneth, St. Joseph; son, Kevin Lane and wife, Kimberly, St. Joseph; two granddaughters, Madison and Rylyn Lane, St. Joseph; sister-in-law, Laverta Andrew, Rock Port; nephew, Michael Burg, New York City, New York; and two half-sisters, Faye and Ina Hartsock, Gate City, Virginia.

 

Funeral Services: 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 23, 2015, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
Interment: Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City, Nebraska.
Open visitation begins 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 22, 2015, Minter Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M., Wednesday, prior to the service.
