Greta "Liz" Lyden
May 22, 1927 - April 6, 2024
Greta “Liz” Lyden, the daughter of John F. and Mary (Marsh) Boettner, was born May 22, 1927, in Rock Port, Missouri. She attended Lone Cedar Country School, then graduated from Rock Port High School in 1945.
On December 24, 1949, Liz was united in marriage to Ed Mincer, Jr., at the Centennial Methodist Church, north of Rock Port. They became the parents of four children. Later divorcing. Liz passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, surrounded by family at her daughter Kerry Sue’s home.
She was employed as the first female postal carrier in Shenandoah, Iowa. Later, Liz owned and operated Echo Hill Collectables from her shop on the farm north of Rock Port, where she refinished and sold antiques. After retirement, she worked as a Red Bird Missionary in Red Bird, Kentucky, where she made medical runs and delivered meals.
Liz was a member of Centennial and Madison Methodist Churches. She was also a proud member of Daughters of America Colonist. She loved nature and hiking. In her 60’s, she hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine, carrying a backpack and sleeping on the ground.
Besides her parents, Liz was preceded in death by daughter, Mary DiAnn Metz; brothers, Ralph and James Boettner. Survivors include children, Kerry Sue (Jack) Scardina, Omaha, Nebraska, Craig (Connie) Mincer, Lake Toxaway, North Carolina, and Gary (Arlette) Mincer, Palm Coast, Florida; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Private Graveside Service and Interment: Grange Hall Cemetery, Rock Port.
There is no visitation.
