Guy L. Woods, Sr., the son of John and Etta Woods, was born December 16, 1935, in Kansas City, Kansas, where he also attended school.

 

On March 18, 1957, Guy was united in marriage to Carole Farrington in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They later divorced. In January 2002, Guy was united in marriage to Jan Powlas in Hohenwald, Tennessee.

 

On January 29, 1954, Guy entered the United States Marine Corp and served his country during the Korean War as a heavy equipment operator. After receiving his honorable discharge on January 28, 1956, Guy returned to Kansas City, and was employed by Kent Products, Hawthorn Melody and Shedd Spread, also as a heavy equipment operator. He later drove a cab in Kansas City, Missouri, for a few years. Guy was a member of the Teamsters Union. Guy passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, Missouri at the age of 76.

 

Besides his parents, Guy was preceded in death by grandson, Guy Woods, III; four brothers, Norman, Herbert, Jack and Wilbur Woods; and one sister, Doris Burns. Survivors include wife, Jan, Olathe, Kansas; children, Bonnie Koller and husband, John, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Linda Manker, and Joe Stanford, Tarkio, Missouri, Guy L. Woods, Jr. and Renee Hankins, Catherine Collins and husband, Richard, all of Colorado Springs, Colorado and John Woods, Black Forest, Colorado; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside Memorial Service and Inurnment: 11:00 A.M., Thursday, May 17, 2012, Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
Open visitation will begin 9:00 am Wednesday May 16, 2012 at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, where the family will receive friends that evening from 7:00-8:00 P.M.
