Harold Duane “Bud” Martin, the son of Henry Lee and Gladys Stella (Payne) Martin, was born January 3, 1928, in the family home in Watson, Missouri. Bud attended Watson High School, graduating in1945. On April 3, 1946, he entered the United States Army and served his country post World War II, in the Philippines, receiving his honorable discharge on April 24, 1947.

 

On July 23, 1958, Bud was united in marriage to Mary Lou Smith in Phoenix, Arizona. They lived and farmed on the Martin family farm near Watson until Mary Lou’s passing in 2001. They enjoyed traveling and spent many winters in Phoenix and Mexico visiting Mary Lou’s sister and other family and friends. Bud was a kind and soft spoken man who always had a smile. Bud passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, Missouri, at the age of 94.

 

Bud was a member of the Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49, and stockholder and former board member of the Citizens Bank and Trust, both of Rock Port. He was a general aviation pilot and also enjoyed golfing and “coffee shop talk” with friends.

 

Besides his parents and wife Mary Lou, Bud was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Vyvyan Martin, sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Willis Barnhart; nieces, Joy Barnhart and Linda Fries. Survivors include nephew, Reed (Staci) Martin, Watson, niece, JaNay (Jim) Oestmann, Auburn, Nebraska, nephew, Byron (Darlene) Barnhart, Rock Port, nephew-in-law, Dan Fries, Fairfax, Missouri, niece, Voniece (David) Nix, Phoenix, Arizona; numerous great nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside service and Interment: 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 25, 2022, High Creek Cemetery, Watson.

No scheduled family visitation. Open visitation begins 9:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 24, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to High Creek Cemetery, Watson.

Full military honors under the auspices of Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49, Rock Port.

Arrangements: Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
