Harriett Antonette Wilcox
August 10, 1916 - June 26, 2008
Harriett Antonette (Lundgren) Wilcox, the daughter of William Martin and Otelia Charlotte (Erikson) Lundgren, was born August 10, 1916 in Page County, Yorktown, Iowa. She attended country school in Page County and graduated from Essex High School, Essex, Iowa. Harriett also attended the Tarkio College, Tarkio, Missouri.
On March 28, 1937, Harriett was united in marriage to John Harold Wilcox, Sr. Tarkio. To this union, one son was born, John Harold Wilcox, Jr. Harriett was a homemaker. Her husband John passed away on August 1, 1983. Harriett passed away June 26, 2008 at Northview Manor, Tarkio, at the age of 91 years.
Harriett was a member of the Tarkio United Methodist Church and was a devoted member of the United Methodist Women, serving as an officer for many years. She was also a member of the Wesleyan Sunday School Class, Fraternal Order of the Royal Neighbors of America, Royal Neighbors Club, The Thursday Club, The Wednesday Afternoon Club, Merry Widows Club, The Tarkio Young at Heart Club where she served as president for 10 years, a board member of the Tarkio Nutrition Center Board, OATS volunteer for the OATS bus and was selected OATS Volunteer of the year for 1996.
Besides her parents and husband John, Harriett is preceded in death by four brothers, Delbert, Leonard, Wesley and Vernon Lundgren; one sister Laurine Lundgren and one sister-in-law Hazel Lundgren. Survivors include her son John Harold Wilcox, Jr and his wife Marylyn Kay (Koger) Wilcox, Tarkio; three grandchildren, Johnna Wilcox, Arlington, Washington, Jerri Wilcox, Powell, Ohio, and Jamie Wilcox, Norman, Oklahoma; one great-granddaughter, Tessa Faith Keeney; sister, Myrtle Greever and her husband Keith, Shenandoah, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Lundgren and Nadine Lundgren, both of Essex; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services: Monday, June 30, 2008, 10:30 am, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
Visitation: the family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 at the funeral home prior to the service.
Memorials: Home Cemetery or the Tarkio Nutrition Center.
Services are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
