Hazel Lee (Lyons) Rosenboom, the daughter of Chester O. and Omah Jane (Branic) Lyons, was born June 18, 1916 in Hamburg, Iowa. She attended rural schools in Hamburg, Sidney, Iowa and Thurman, Iowa.

 

In August 18, 1935, Hazel was united in marriage to Menne Rosenboom in Shelbyville, Missouri by her grandfather, Reverend Branic.

 

The couple lived in Langdon, Missouri, Fairfax, Missouri and Westboro, Missouri where they farmed for local farmers. In 1965, they moved to Tarkio, Missouri, where they lived the remainder of their married life. Menne passed away in 1992. Hazel was employed as a midwife, and then studied to become a licensed practical nurse. She worked at the Fairfax Hospital, Bethesda Nursing Home in Tarkio and the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Rock Port, Missouri. Hazel also worked in private home health care. She passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Douglas County Nursing Home in Omaha at the age of 92 years.

 

Hazel was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Rock Port, Missouri, (since 1936), and past president of the Business and Professional Women’s Club in Tarkio

 

Besides her parents and husband, Hazel was preceded in death by one daughter, Omah Jean Rosenboom; and one great-great grandson, Jayden Hudson, two sisters, and two brothers. Survivors include one son, Charles Rosenboom, Omaha, foster daughter, Mary Hudson, Rock Port; three grandchildren, Christina Hudson and Charles Hudson, both of Rock Port, and Chad Rosenboom, Council Bluffs, Iowa; three great-grandchildren, Jarod Hudson, Jacob Sturtz and Catherine Crowner, one sister, Jenny Matthew, Lakewood, Colorado; and one brother, Chester Lyons, Cairo, Missouri.

 

Services:
10:00 am, Saturday, January 17, 2009
First Lutheran Church, Rock Port.
Interment: Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.
There is no scheduled family visitation.
Memorials may be directed to the First Lutheran Church or Hunter Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
