Helen was a terrific teacher, and a mom of one of my best friends. My brothers Mom-in-law, she was pretty much a part of my family. Not only did she teach me in school, she taught me values. Her courage and perseverance in raising her family of five children is a testament to her strength. As an adult, I have loved Helen as a friend. She always had a firm but positive outlook. I am better for knowing her! I will miss you!!! And thank you for what you gave to me.

How lucky you were Tim to have such a wonderful mother for so many years. You are a great reflection of her values and morals and she was so proud of you.

I always referred to Mrs. Austin as "Mom" because I grew up with Tim and was always at the house or at the pool where she worked. I have wonderful memories of her and the family.

What a blessing Mrs. Austin was to her students for so many years! And doubly so to her own children. She was a wonderful listener who really cared. I always felt special to be in a class she sponsored. Heartfelt sympathy to all her family and God bless.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Patti, Tim, Bob, Marty and all the grandkids who are suffering the loss of a wonderful Mom and Grandmother. Aunt Helen has always been so gracious over the years, welcoming our family into her home as we breezed through on our cross-country jaunts. The memories of those stays will live on forever.

Mrs. Austin was one of the most influential teachers I ever had. She is very much responsible for my love of science and my career in biology. I think of her influence often.

Not only was I blessed to have Mrs. Austin as a teacher, but both of my children were also. She was a wonderful lady that never failed to speak even after all of these years out of school. Thank you Austin children for sharing her with all of her school children
