Helen Louise Hines the daughter of Claude and Oma Mae (Davis) Batson was born April 1, 1918 in Albany, Missouri. Helen attended rural schools in Gentry County.

On August 15, 1935, Helen was united in marriage to Charles W. Hines in Darlington, Missouri. They moved to the Tarkio, Missouri area in the late 1940’s. Helen was employed as a nurse’s aide at Pleasant View nursing home in Rock Port, Missouri. She also worked as a cook at various cafe’s. Charles passed away in 1986. Helen passed away January 1, 2011 at Tarkio Rehabilitation and Health Care in Tarkio.

Besides her parents and husband Charles, Helen is preceded in death by two sons, Ronald and Charlie Hines; and two daughters, Phyllis Ann Hines and Iva Fern Hines. Survivors include three sons, Junior Hines and his wife Barbara, Billy Dean Hines and his wife (Sharon), all of Tarkio, and Butch Hines and his wife Alice, Schuyler, Nebraska; two daughters, Susie Shaw and her husband Harry, Fairfax, Missouri, and Faye Hines, Tarkio; 17 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and special nephew, James Wallace Hines
