Helen Lucille Carroll, the daughter of Guy O. and Fae M. (Melvin) Sliger was born February 16, 1924 in Rock Port, Missouri. Helen attended Rock Port Schools graduating with the class of 1941.
On July 4, 1943, Helen was united in marriage to Donald Eugene Carroll, Sr. at the First Christian Church in Rock Port. They became the parents of two sons, Donald, Jr. and Richard.
Helen and Don made their home in Los Angeles, California and were both employed by American Airlines for more than 20 years. They were blessed to have “traveled the world,” spending time in numerous countries such as; England, France, Germany, Bavaria, Switzerland, Greece, Italy, Spain, China and Hong Kong, and many others. Helen and Don later lived in Arizona, where at the age of 65, enjoyed riding motorcycles in the desert. They owned a travel trailer and pulled it through out the United States, and also enjoyed fishing in the Northwestern parts of the country. It was an adjustment getting used to staying home following their move back to Rock Port. Helen passed away August 2, 2007 at her home in Rock Port at the age of 83 years. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.
Helen was a member of the First Christian Church, Rock Port and was baptized November 29, 1931 by Pastor Dessie Grace Pilalas. She was also a former member of the Rock Port 440 Order of Eastern Star.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Donald Carroll, Sr., two sons, Donald Carroll, Jr., and his wife Alicia, and Richard Carroll, all of Rock Port; two granddaughters, Teresa Carroll, Kansas City, Missouri and Donna Carroll, St. Joseph, Missouri; one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Dawn; sister, Shirley Keller and her husband, Larry, Carson City, Nevada.
Graveside Services and Burial: 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2007, Greenhill Cemetery, Rock Port, Missouri
Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church, Rock Port.
There is no scheduled family visitation.
At the family’s request, open visitation and viewing will be Sunday, 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
Services are under the direction of Minter Funeral Chapel.
