Helen Marie Walker, the daughter of Fredrick and Trinka (Rosenbohm) Ottmann was born March 15, 1920 in Phelps City, Missouri. She attended the Banner and West Bend country schools, graduating from Rock Port High School in 1939. Helen moved to Langdon, Missouri from Phelps City, Missouri in 1930. Following High School she lived on the family farm and worked with her parents.
On April 12, 1941, Helen was united in marriage to William Walker at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Langdon. They made their home in Rock Port where Helen lived to the present time. Besides being a homemaker and raising their four children, Helen was employed at the Places store, and Pleasant View Nursing Home both in Rock Port. Bill passed away March 16, 1974. Helen passed away Sunday, November 19, 2006 at Bryan LGH East Hospital, Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 86 years.
Helen was a member of First Lutheran Church, Rock Port and a fifty year member of the Rock Port Chapter #440, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Pfeil and her husband Gary, Rock Port, Betty Nixon and her husband Jamie, Council Bluffs, Iowa; two sons, Tom Walker, Kennewick, Washington, and Bob Walker and his wife Cindy, Forest Lake, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, Debra, Sandy, Gary, Bobbi, Charles, Jeremy, Bill, Travis and Ryan; four great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jaiden, Will and Benjamin.
Besides her parents and husband Bill, Helen was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Harold Ottmann.
Services were held at 1:30 pm Saturday, November 25, 2006 at the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port, with burial at Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port. Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church.
