Herbert Carnes, Jr., the son of Herbert Carnes, Sr. and Cleoria (DeuPree) Carnes was born November 15, 1926 in Greenwood, Nebraska. He attended the Malcolm, Nebraska schools. He served his country during the Korean War, receiving his honorable discharge on September 9, 1952.
On April 3, 1953 Herb was united in marriage to Joye L. Jones, in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Army Corp of Engineers built the lake forcing their move to Westboro, Missouri in 1966. The farm they purchased is where Herb currently resided.

In later years he enjoyed front porch conversation with friends. Herb passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Community Hospital – Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 92.
