Ima J. Deering
1930-2016
Tarkio, Missouri

 

Ima Jean Deering, the daughter of Willard Frank and Dolly Luena (Hicks) Riley, was born April 11, 1930, in Rock Port, Missouri. She attended Morning Star and London country schools, Tarkio, Missouri.

 

On May 27, 1946, Ima was united in marriage to Harmon Shields Deering in Atchison, Kansas. They made their home in rural Tarkio and became the parents of one son, Harmon, Jr.

 

Ima Jean was employed at Curly’s Big Dipper in Tarkio, Pleasant View Nursing Home in Rock Port and helped Harmon on the farm. Harmon passed away August 7, 2010. Ima Jean passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 85.

 

Ima Jean was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Tarkio and was a former leader of the young girls group, The Missionette’s.

 

Besides her parents and husband, Ima Jean was preceded in death by brother, Willard Riley, Jr.; and sister, Gladie Lois Thacker. Survivors include son, Harmon Deering, Jr. and wife, Rose, Stockton, Missouri; granddaughter, Leechia Raquel Deering, Ozark, Missouri; two great-grandsons, Nathan Chappius and Ryan Miller, both of Ozark; siblings, Donald Riley and wife, Connie, Beverly Hunley and husband, John, all of Tarkio, Elic Riley and wife, Karen, rural Elmo, Missouri, Dave Riley and wife, Faye, Bolivar, Missouri, Brenda Daniels and friend, Randy Brooks, Tarkio, Scott Riley, Walnut Grove, Missouri, Angela Jacobs and husband, Steve, Topeka, Kansas, Gary Riley and wife, Carla, and Steve Riley and wife, Carol, all of Tarkio; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 6, 2016, Assembly of God Church, Tarkio.
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio, Missouri.
Open visitation begins 9:00 A.M., Friday, February 5, Davis Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Ima Jean Deering Memorial Fund.
