Imogene Scott, the daughter of Carl D. and Elizabeth (Lizzie Farmer) Nichols was born October 26, 1930 in Wellington, Texas. Imogene moved with her family at the age of 5 from Oklahoma to Los Angeles, California.
Imogene spent her childhood working in the fields picking cotton, strawberries, fruits from the local orchards or babysitting for the neighbors. In the 9th grade, Imogene dropped out of school to go to work and start her own family. She was the mother of five children: Wanda Lorraine Carver, Stanley (Sonny) Carver, Steven Wayne Carver, Gary Lee Scott, and Henry Ford Scott Jr.
Imogene spent more than 52 years working at numerous restaurants, hotels, and grocery stores. She loved talking with people and listening to their life stories. After the children were grown, she moved back to Mangum, Oklahoma to be near her parents. In 2016, she moved to Rock Port, MO to be with her sister Peggy and niece Debby. Before dementia took her memories, Imogene loved to work in her garden, grow fruit, and was always ready to share a good cup of coffee with family and friends. She loved animals and always had several cats and dogs. Imogene passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, at the age of 90.
Besides her parents Imogene was preceded in death by son Stanley Carver, sisters, Peggy Jones, Kathleen and brother-in-law Jim Lawhead, brothers, Melvin Douglas and sister-in-law Pat Nichols, Thomas Ray and sister-in-law Cheryl Nichols. Survivors include children, Wanda and Steven Carver, Mangum, OK; Gary Scott and wife Donna, AZ.; Henry (Hank) Scott and wife, Susan, Concord, NC.; brother, David L Nichols, TX.; brother-in-law, Leonard Jones Sr., Rock Port; niece, Deborah (Ken) Miller, great niece, Jennifer Blakeman, Rock Port; special granddaughter, Shirley (Kai-Uwe) Ritter, PA.; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside Service and Interment: 12:00 P.M., Thursday, May 6, 2021, Greenhill Cemetery, Rock Port.
There is no visitation.
