Inace Freeman, the daughter of Howard and Gertrude (Hicks) Riley, was born December 13, 1927 in rural Fairfax, Missouri. She attended Bellevue and Irish Grove Schools in rural Atchison and Holt Counties, graduating from Tarkio Missouri High School, in 1946. Inace was employed in numerous restaurants in Tarkio, until owning and operating the Squeeze Inn Restaurant.

 

On January 31, 1953 Inace was united in marriage to Charles Maynard Freeman in Harrison, Arkansas. They made their home in Tarkio where she was a homemaker, raising their five children, Cheryl Elaine, Tammy Sue, Mary Jane, Connie Lou and James Douglas. Maynard passed away in March of 1988.

 

Inace was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Tarkio, where she taught Sunday school for forty plus years, and served in the Women’s Ministry. She was a member and District Chaplain of the Tarkio Garden Club, and the Young at Heart Club. She was the current President of the Tarkio Municipal Water Board, former member of the Tarkio City Council, the Regional Government of Northwest Missouri and the Homer Extension Club, Tarkio.

 

Inace loved her family, her church, and spending time with her many friends. She enjoyed baking (cooking), “Hat Shows” and sporting events. More recently she was a supporter of the Relay for Life, cancer walk, attending the last relay in September. Inace passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007, at Community Hospital, Fairfax, at the age of 79 years.

 

Besides her parents and husband, Inace was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy Sue; sisters, Nadine Hunkins and Annas Riley, brothers, Willis Riley and Charles “Bucky” Riley. Survivors include three daughters Cheryl Elaine and Mary Jane Freeman, Tarkio, Connie Lou Burk and her husband Max, Kansas City, Missouri, one son, James Douglas Freeman, Republic, Missouri; two sisters, Ann Phroper and Helen Henson, both of Tarkio; three brothers, Edmond Riley, Carl Riley and his wife Carolyn, all of Tarkio, and Jimmie Riley and his wife Lorraine, Republic, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Jean Stevens, Tarkio, Evaline Riley, Fairfax, and Virginia Riley, Holden, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services: 10:30 am, Monday, October 15, 2007, Assembly of God Church, Tarkio, Missouri
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio
Memorials may be directed to the Assembly of God Church or the American Cancer Society.
Open visitation will begin after 9:00 am Saturday.  There is no scheduled family visitation.
