Irene Frances Turner, the daughter of Elza S. and Lillie A. (Maness) Cook, was born April 11, 1926 in Rock Port, Missouri. She attended Rock Port schools.

 

In mid-1940s, Irene was united in marriage to Clyde Wooten and became the parents of four children, Lonnie, Rita, Leslie, and Janet. They later divorced. On April 2, 1966, Irene was united in marriage to William “Bill” Turner in St. Joseph, Missouri. The couple was married for 30 years. Bill passed away in April of 1996.

 

Irene was employed by Quakers Oats and Nelly Don Dress Factory, St. Joseph, Missouri. She was a very hard worker and was awarded Sam’s Club Demo Lady. Irene retired in the mid-1990s.

 

Irene was baptized as a youth in Rock Port and was a member of Patee Park Baptist Church, St. Joseph. She was also an avid lifetime member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Irene was a wonderful seamstress and cook. She never knew a stranger and family was everything. Irene passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Mosaic Life Care, St. Joseph, at the age of 95.

 

Besides her parents and husband, Bill Turner, Irene was preceded in death by children, Lonnie Wooten, Rita Greer, Leslie Wooten, and Janet Wren; grandchildren, Leattle, Jacob, Lillie, and Lonnie, Jr.; siblings, Dorothy Cook, Rollie Cook, Mary Lee, George Cook, Clydie Perkins, Harold “Buss” and Howard Cook, Betty Lininger, and Shirley Driskell. Survivors include, grandchildren, Theresa, Matt, and Jackson Wooten, Kevin and Scott Burton; numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

 

Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 19, 2021, Assembly of God Church, Tarkio, Missouri.

Open visitation begins 9:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 18, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio where the family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 P.M.

Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.

Memorials: Assembly of God Church, Tarkio.

Arrangements: Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
