Irene M. Daniels, the daughter of Ben and Rose (Bitz) Johnson, was born April 2, 1918, in Rock Port, Missouri. She attended Nishnabotna High School, graduating in 1936. Irene worked as a live-in nanny for the Graham family after high school. Irene then moved to Kansas City, Missouri, to attend cosmetology school where she was employed as a beautician in Independence, Missouri.

In 1939, Irene was united in marriage to Clarence Daniels. They became the parents of one son, Donald, and made their home in Independence. Clarence passed away in the mid 1970’s. In 1983, she retired from United Missouri Bank, where she worked in the trust department. Following retirement, Irene traveled the world with her best friend, Margaret Piper, visiting many places including Singapore, India, China, Argentina and Europe.

Irene was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Independence. She attended the First Presbyterian Church and volunteered countless hours at the Salvation Army, both of Independence. Irene passed away Monday, October 17, 2016, in Independence at the age of 98.

In addition to her parents and husband, Clarence, Irene was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Survivors include son, Donald Daniels and wife, Judi, Independence; grandchildren, Toni Daniels, Independence, and Elizabeth Jobe, Blue Springs, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Cole Burkhardt, Chad Burkhardt and Tia Burkhardt; two great-great-grandchildren, Alex and Ava Burkhardt; sister, Florence Leonard, Bonsall, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside Memorial Service and Inurnment: 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 4, 2016, Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port, Missouri
