Jack J. McCoy
September 22, 1921 - December 28, 2008
Jack J. McCoy, the son of Frederick Cecil (F.C.) and Mabel Seiver (Scarlett) McCoy was born September 22, 1921, in Rock Port, Missouri.
He attended Mount Pleasant country school and graduated from Rock Port High School in 1940.
On July 28, 1942, Jack enlisted in the United States Army, serving overseas with the 99th Depot Repair Squadron. He proudly served his country during World War II and was honorably discharged on February 10, 1946.
On June 20, 1947, Jack was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Waits at the Rock Port Christian Church, and they lived and farmed in the Rock Port area their entire married life.
Jack was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rock Port, the Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49, Rock Port, and the Disabled American Veterans. Jack passed away December 28, 2008, at Bryan LGH Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 87 years.
Besides his parents, Jack is preceded in death by two brothers, Willis (Mac) McCoy and Lee Edward (Tiny) McCoy; two sisters-in-law, Mevelyn McCoy and Marjorie McCoy; brother-in-law Lawrence Kish and one grandson, John McCoy.
Jack is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home in Rock Port; one son, Jay McCoy and his wife Joannie, Rock Port; one daughter, Donna Wasserfallen and her husband, David, Wellsville, Kansas; six grandchildren, Lois, Jackie, James, Jacob, Janette and Lisa; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy (Kish) Bredthauer, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 31, 2008, United Methodist Church, Rock Port.
Burial:Grange Hall Cemetery, Rock Port.
Visitation: 7:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Rock Port Nutrition Center.
